Over the past two decades electromagnetic field computations have received a big impulse by the large availability of digital computers with better and better performances in speed and capacity. Many various methods have been developed but not all of them appear convenient enough for practical engineering use. In fact, the technical and industrial challenges set some principal attributes and criteria for good computation methods. They should be relatively easy to use, fit into moderately sized computers, yield useful design data, maintain flexibility with m1n1mum cost in time and effort.

A fun read - for both of us.

This was a GREAT kid's book. My 7 yr old grandson loved it. Reads well, good sense of humor, gross things kids (especially boys) like. A lot of it reads like 'opposite day' - zombies want pimples. I enjoyed it too.

Okay it’s a diary story book, about what you would expect. Not too badly done, though not my cup of tea… Age level, I don’t think many teens would be interested in this, the character is only 12 and basic rule of writing is your audience is no older than you character. Yes there are exceptions, but not at this level.

For what it is it gets 5 stars, recommend it for free, but if it stays at $0.98 it’s worth buying for the younger ones. It’s not great literature, but at least they are reading English at a semi reasonable level.

Written in a kind of subtle way and romantic

This story reminds me on how diverse people are. You really don't know the true identity of a person unless you expose him or her to environments where he or she is not comfortable. This story also reminded me on how important it is to finally discover yourself. And to do that, it is always good to chase new experiences whether you talk to a new type of person, go to some places you've never been before, and so on. The context is purely romance and related matters which helped developed the story. There are a lot of things to be picked up here and at the same time, the flow of the story will get you reading for more. To be honest I kind of got disappointed when the story finished cause I just want more and more. But nevertheless, the story satisfied me more than it should. Great writing! Always fun to try out new books!

This is my first time to read this kind of story and I am amazed how the author wrote this story. I finished reading this book in one sitting and I really enjoyed reading this book. This story really got my attention and my interest. Once you start reading this book it will be hard for you to stop because it will give us excitement regarding on what will happen in the story. I love this gay romantic story. I have been always pro gay people. I mean, I want everybody to be able to express themselves and be comfortable in their own true skin. This book will be very liberating to the gay people. I love how the story sheds light to people who are confused in showing what they really feel. This book may be categorized as fiction, but the plot may really happen in real life. Loved how it’s written so I am really looking forward to the next couple of books for this.

Just the Basics Nothing Special

This was a required book for my class and ended up being about $35 cheaper then through the college. The book goes over the basics and for the most part, if you have good common sense you wont really need to read the chapter to answer the questions. Over all its a book that has questions in it, and in my opinion a waste of money for me...

I didn't enjoy this book at all. I haven't met a book I didn't like in all of my life, but this one just took all of my life force and pulled it out of me. The experience was painful.
If you are a professor don't subject your students to torture. Choose something else.
Sorry Mrs.Knapp, I hope you never find out that I despise your book. It's not personal.

Balancing sleep and work? Read this!

“How to Stay Awake” by Luke Norton does exactly what it says on the tin, so to speak. I got hold of this book while I was struggling to balance studying for my business exams and getting enough sleep, so I went onto Amazon and looked for something that would help me. At first I thought that “How to Stay Awake” might be too short – I mean, I thought how much could you over in only 8 pages? – but, you know what? It contains all the necessary hints and tips – like a “manage your sleep” handbook – without getting too in depth to the extent where it’d become boring. Instead, what we have here in “How to Stay Awake” is a kind of mini bible, with essential tips such as surviving a cram session, avoiding falling asleep at work, driving while fatigued and working a night shift. Norton really knows his stuff and this is one book that I will refer to again and again. Recommended!

this book is very handy because im only ten and ofcourse want to stay up all night in my fort so i came across this book and itried what the book said and i go to bed at 9 p.m and end up staying up until 12:45 instead of 10:00. i followed the instructions and i have a mini fridge in my fort/clubhouse full of fruit and water. and instead of sleeping on my ine of my clubhouse ten beds i sleep on the floor. and when i was traveling to washington last summer with my brother step sister dad and stepmom i showed my stepmom the book ( my dad does not have his licenes) i nstead of driving all night she would stop at reststop's and she was SO much happier and less grouchy in the morning. i would like to thank the authour of this book and i hope whoever is thinking about reading this book reads my reveiw and changes their mind if they said no.

Author Luke W. Norton does a thorough job of enlightening readers on techniques to stay awake on those occasions when they may need to. I found it to be a real eye-opener, as it went beyond the logical methods that we all tend to think we should take when getting sleep isn't an option. What I enjoyed most about the book was that it didn't necessarily promote taking medication, prescribed or otherwise. The emphasis was placed on utilizing authentic strategies which would enable a person to naturally and organically drift into a state of slumber. I’d have to give this book a thumbs up as a recommended read for sure.

Over a century later, Murray’s research and conclusions, in which he argues that chess originated in India, are still widely accepted by most chess historians.
Undertaking such a pioneering task, the scope of which has never been attempted before or since, Murray taught himself to read Arabic in order to decipher historical manuscripts on the game and its beginnings. His study unravels the history of the game as it evolved from its Asiatic beginnings, through the role chess played in Europe during the Middle Ages, and up until the nineteenth century with the arrival of modern chess as we know it.
A History of Chess includes transcribed diagrams of important games, as well as some of the more famous historical chess figurines, such as the Lewis chessmen. No single work on the game of chess has become close to touching Murray’s in breadth or significance.

About the Author
H.J.R. Murray was an English school inspector and prominent chess historian. His father was the first editor of the Oxford English Dictionary. Murray only published one other book during his lifetime, A History of Board Games Other Than Chess. He lived in England.

If you like tons of historical details...

If you buy books by the pound this one is certainly worth the price! But, all kidding aside, it's an amazingly detailed discussion about where chess came from, the varieties it morphed into, and how it traveled the world up until the nineteenth century. The 900 pages of text and countless footnotes show how the author has researched thousands of literary and historical documents for insight into the ancient origins and development of the game. Also included are anecdotes about those who played it, loved it, hated it, made it illegal, and condemned it as the work of the devil. While chess was at times regarded as a substitute for warfare, apparently some actual battles were lost because the army's leader was busy playing chess while he should have been commanding his troops. The author discusses early versions that were played with dice, others that were four-sided, sometimes played on a blank board without squares, and sometimes with huge boards and hundreds of pieces. When the author mentioned versions in which the captured pieces were added to your own side, or where players were allowed to arrange pieces in any order they wished it reminded me of Fischer's attempt to spice up the game with similar innovations.
But it can be slow going when wading through the massive amount of information about foreign kingdoms, their rulers, and so on. This is an academic history book which contains more details than most readers will want both in the body text and the footnotes. And it ends in the nineteenth century. The original version of this reprint is where most chess writers have gone when in need of a reliable source of chess history, but probably not for a casual Sunday afternoon read.

Yeah! That's right, Literati... 900 PAGES!

I've owned my copy of this exceptional history for almost 30 years. It launched my avocation as an amateur chess historian. I've always had the sense that Murray's 1913 book is likely more accurate in that he was closer to the past than more recent chess historians. What new can be discovered? Carbon dating of ancient pieces, perhaps, but as to recorded history there are very few themes that are better recorded than chess. Everything SINCE 1913 is recorded a thousand times over, that's for sure. It was a great pleasure for me to discover 19 chess problems attributed to `Ala'addin at-Tabrizi (Tabriz, Persia), commonly called Kwaja `Ali ash-Shatranji (Great Ali of the Game of Chess). According to Ibn `Arabshah (died 1450), biographer of great Moghul emperor Timur the Lame (aka Tamerlane), `Ala'addin was an attorney and court-appointed historian. Few realize that this person is the traditionist (story-telling historian) who concocted some of the now-famous children's stories in the 1001 Arabian Nights, mostly featuring himself as the protagonist Aladdin! He was the greatest chessplayer in the world circa 1375. He could play four blindfolded games at once, while also playing two games of Pachisi and carrying on casual conversation with his friends!

For those with no desire to pour over many ancient diagrams and detailed gamescores from the entire last millenium (all the while trying to bear in mind confusing pre-16th century rules), there are still 650 pages of great reading here for you. Read about gruesome Gran Guignol chess (page 37), Conquistador Commander Diego Lopez' account of the first Portuguese expedition off Malacca in 1509 when a Javan mainlander boarded the ship and immediately recognized the game (page 96), or have a darkside chuckle over the 13th century chessboard murder of Charlemagne's nephew Berthelot at the hands of Renaud de Montaubon (page 741). Read about the chessboard seduction of Guy of Warwick (page 436) and discover Alaskan Yakutat Koluschan chess pieces that predate the arrival of Columbus by 50 years (page 374). Find Lucena's 1497 description of en passant pawn capturing (page 784). Discover little known facts such as the bishop piece shape actually symbolizing the tusk and mouth of the elephant (that's what it used to be in the Indian army). Learn that those Egyptian tomb-paintings that look like people playing chess actually depict a game called Senet (don't let anyone tell you otherwise), which is a chase game more like canasta or backgammon (the only living game older than chess). Murray knew that a hundred years ago! Did you know that the pawn and knight are borrowed from games much older than chess (which emerged in the 5th century Punjab)? The Wait was worth it!

This magnum opus by Murray is amazing. I first got turned onto it in Cleveland, Ohio where The Library Main Campus, Special Collections houses the world's largest chess collection and the curator turned me onto this book. I readily admit that I have encountered difficulty while reading since I am relatively new to the game of chess. Having said that, there is no short explanations given here, and is superb in dealing with the Birth, and Historical significance of the game. No library is complete without it. Thanks for the new reissue.
