About the Author

Richard Froom, CCIE No. 5102, is a manager within the Solution Validation Services (SVS) team at Cisco. Richard previously worked as a network engineer in the Cisco TAC and in various customer-facing testing organizations within Cisco. Richard holds CCIEs

in Routing and Switching and in Storage Networking. Richard currently focuses on expanding his team’s validation coverage to new technologies in the data center, including Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), OpenStack, Intercloud Fabric, and big data solutions with Hadoop.

 

Erum Frahim, CCIE No. 7549 , is a technical leader working in the Solution Validation Services (SVS) group at Cisco. In her current role, Erum is leading efforts to test data center solutions for several Cisco high-profile customers and leading all the cross-business units interlock. Most recently, she is working on Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), UCS Director, OpenStack, and big data. Update April 2016.

Having spent the last few months with the book, my opinion has soured. Read the negative reviews and you'll get a feel for the product. What interests me - now having spent time actually reading and using the material on a daily basis - is how, exactly the editorial staff permitted such a poor product to see the retail light of day.

Perhaps the book escaped. Or was tossed out. Maybe they did it to us on purpose.

Regardless, no CCIE knowledge can overcome the odious editing mistakes, omissions and sloppiness.

Final verdict: Save your money and your frustration. This is Cisco. There'll be plenty of opportunity to spend your money and feed your frustration down the road. TAC, anyone?

I just purchased the book for my Cisco switch class and have a few brief comments so far:

1) Be sure to download the errata if you have the May 2015, First Printing version.

There are a number of errors including every single Chapter 2 review answer. The errata provides the correct information.

2) A general criticism. Cisco, like a lot of text book manufacturers, keeps edging towards cheaper quality. I have a number of Cisco books and the paper and print quality is below-average. Paper quality is so-so and the diagrams are hard to read in some instances because the gray shades all blend together.

Because it is written by a knowledgeable pair of CCIE's, I expect the content to be good. I'll update my review again.

Not a bad book when correct

Not a bad book when correct. Problem is this book fraught with errors. The published errata is almost as long as the book itself.
Hard to rely on this book to pass a test when so much is just wrong.

As previously mentioned Chapter 2 review question answers don't even refer to the questions in chapter 2.

Poorly Written

This is one of the most poorly written books I have ever seen. Even trying to decipher the errata is cumbersome. The answer key to the Ch2 review questions was completely wrong, and I do mean completely. I had to look at the errata to check my answers.

Use it as a supplement, but definitely not as a definitive guide and still be sure to have other sources.

A Song of Spirit

Intimacy in general terms is a song of spirit inviting two people to come and share their spirit together. It is a song that no one can resist. We hear it while awake or sleeping, in community or alone. We cannot ignore it.

The Embrace of Community

Community is the spirit, the guiding light of the tribe, whereby people come together in order to fulfill a specific purpose, to help others fulfill their purpose, and to take care of one another. The goal of the community is to make sure that each member of the community is heard and is properly giving the gifts he has brought to this world. Without this giving, the community dies. And without the community, the individual is left without a place where he can contribute. The community is that grounding place where people come and share their gifts and receive from others.

Born to a Purpose

When two people are married and have built an intimate relationship, there is a desire that they make themselves available for other souls to come through, that they create a safe and sacred space for spirits who want to bring their gifts and fulfill their purpose.

And so people in our village would say that children do not belong completely to the parents who gave them birth. They have used their parents' bodies to come through, but they belong to the community and to the spirit.

Initiation: Gaining Knowledge

In our village, children learn about intimacy and ritual from birth onward. As they mature, it becomes crucial that they develop a profound understanding of these matters. At initiation, elders guide the young deeper into intimacy, sexuality, and ritual so that they know what is awaiting them. They do not just wander into the unknown territory of adulthood and get wounded.

Marriage: Two Worlds Together

Marriage is two souls coming into one soul ( still distinct but forming one entity. It is a way of bringing two people's gifts together in order to strengthen them and make them even better. It acknowledges that two people are embarking on something bigger than them and bigger than the tribe.

Conflict: A Spirit Gift

Conflict grows out of challenges that are presented by spirit. It is a gift, meant to help us move forward. It is through conflict that we gain knowledge of ourselves and learn new situations for using our own gifts.

Not finish this book yet. Still reading as i am a scattered reader as in i read many books at the same time. Everything in this book sounds common place to me though, i was just shaking my head yup and yup. I really appreciate how she spoke of the gatekeepers, since many folks like to be behave as if there are no LGBTQIA+ folks in the Continent. Wish they would read that chapter!

A Heartfelt Plea for Rethinking Public Education

If you are already a fan of Mike Rose's earlier books (Lives on the Boundary, Possible Lives, The Mind at Work), you will love this exquisite book of essays that revisits themes from his earlier writing, and yet pulls them together in a fresh and highly accessible way. If you have not yet read Rose's earlier work, this is a wonderful introduction. The civil rights leader Robert Moses once said of education that it is the civil rights agenda of our new cultural and economic times. What Rose poignantly argues in this book is that we have fallen shamefully short of achieving this new civil rights agenda: educational equality in public schools across America. This is not just in spite of the passage of the No Child Left Behind Act, the bill that was intended to equalize education and help all students succeed. It is in part because of NCLB, with its unintended effect of narrowing the language and curriculum of public education. We have lost our way, argues Rose throughout this book. We have lost the fullness of public school teaching that focuses on critical and imaginative thinking, and that makes room for the rich diversity of American cultural life and thought. It is easy to offer a critique that tells us where we have gone astray, but Rose takes things one important step further in this collection. He shows through story and his own lyrical style of essayist commentary how things would look if they were different. What readers will find in this small but incredibly important book is a vision for public education that takes us beyond reductive dichotomies and narrow ways of thinking and acting. This is an important moment for public education in America, and Rose's voice is a critical one for helping us creatively rethink how education can become truly democratic.

Towards a more "egalitarian philosophy of education"

What is the purpose of schooling in a democracy? Through the masterful blending of public policy debates with personal and ethnographic narrative, "Why School?" refocuses our collective attention on this fundamental question. In this powerful collection of essays, Mike Rose carefully explicates the central issues that characterize educational discourse in the United States: standards, accountability, remediation, intelligence, work and equity. But what makes this book special is the way he does it. Rose's treatment of each of these issues - his thoughtful disentangling of political rhetoric to articulate the essential questions we ought to be thinking about - reflects and offers the kind of "fresh language" he urges us to join him in creating. What does opportunity look and feel like? What is the value of a standard or assessment and how can we re-organize learning so that these become tools rather than rigid ends? How can we rethink oversimplified dichotomies (hand vs. mind, academic vs. everyday, policy vs. practice) in the service of a more "egalitarian philosophy of education?" While questioning narrow, purely economic discussions of schooling, Rose leaves no nuance or counterargument unexamined, building a compelling case for what we should be most concerned with: the social, cognitive, emotional and existential dimensions of human development, and the conditions that provide all students the opportunity to grow. A refreshing vision for democratic education

Mike Rose candidly acknowledges the flaws and difficulties of our education system, and offers meaningful insight into how we need to address these challenges to reform the system. Through a collection of short but compelling essays, Mike Rose discusses a number of important topics, such as education policy, the role of business in education, the workplace, standards, and remediation. His discussion of these topics provide a much-needed narrative for why we educate--one that moves beyond the language of standards and accountability, and instead progresses toward one that appreciates the intellectual value of students and encourages their social and civic growth and development. Wow! Finally got my hands on THE book for search engine marketing. Stoke's first book was literally my bible to search engine marketing years ago. But this one is at a whole different level! Frankly, for SEM newbies, intermediates, or advanced players, this book is great at all levels. What I love about the book is that it doesn't just talk or teach you about search marketing, it actually has a Point Of View...an approach to search marketing that you can easily incorporate into your management style. He has all of the numbers and data to back it up along with some best practices I haven't read anywhere else.

I highly recommend this book to anyone in the search marketing industry. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.

If you've read Perry & Howie you MUST read Stokes

I really mean that. The Google Adwords books by Perry Marshall (Ultimate Guide to Google Ad Words, 2nd Edition: How To Access 100 Million People in 10 Minutes) and Howie Jacobson (Google AdWords For Dummies) are excellent introductions to the topic. Richard's new book takes that material much further, using in-depth analysis based on data-driven studies he's done. The chapter on Ad Coverage by itself more than justifies getting this book.

Should be called: "How to Become an AdWords Master."

I recently bought this book through Amazon. If you are an intermediate-level user of AdWords, this book will help you become a master. However, that's not what I thought the book would be about. In the on-line description of the book, and on the back cover, one of the key statements is: "Millions compete for exposure on Google, Yahoo!, and MSN Live Search, but 97% of them fail to get results. Become one of the elite 3% who succeed." Since I use Yahoo! Marketing Solutions, I thought that based upon this statement that some of the book would be devoted to Yahoo!. Not so. The book is entirely focussed on expert-level techniques to master AdWords. Many of us beginners/advanced beginners in pay-per-click advertising avoid AdWords because their so called "quality score" ranking is all screwed up. We can't get our ads to run using AdWords, when the same ad gets good results from the other pay-per-click providers. In contrast, Richard Stokes, the author of "Ultimate Guide to Pay-Per-Click Advertising", has figured out how to use AdWords so called "quality score" to gain a profitable advantage over the competition. This book could be a gold mine for someone looking to master AdWords. I'll continue to work with this book to learn more about AdWords, but it's going to take time for someone fairly new to pay-per-click to master this material. Meanwhile, I'll find a book that is geared toward mastering Yahoo! Marketing Solutions.

misal completo y fiel

Este comentario es sobre el Misal Romano. Amazon vincula este comentario tambien con otra obra del Padre Socias la cual no conozco.

Yo tengo la edicion de 1999 del misal, en un volumen quequeño, facil de llevar y bein encuadernado en imitación piel. No estoy seguro si la que preentan aquí es de un volumen. Si usted busca un misal fiel al magisterio, completo, con plegarias eucarísticas en latín y español, con todo el leccionario, diario y domingo, todos los ciclos, prefacios, calendarios, todas las misas y ritos, devocionario, cantos y mas, aquí lo tiene. Excelente

El mejor misal que hay

Para su información, yo compré el Misal Romano Diario, tercera edición 2008.

El Misal Romano Diario es un misal completo con todas las lecturas bíblicas y textos de la misa para todos los días del año litúrgico. Contiene todo el Propio del Tiempo y todo el Santoral. El Ordinario de la Misa es de lo más completo que hay. No solamente contiene casi toda la información que hay en el Misal Romano, pero también está todo en latín y en español, con todo y sus prefacios y todas las Oraciones Eucarísticas (I-IV, V a/b/c/d y las 2 para la Reconciliación). En la parte final incluye una amplia sección para oraciones devocionales como el Santo Rosario, el Vía Crucis, el Ángelus y muchas otras más. Este misal simplemente está repleto de información y es una buena inversión y se lo recomiendo a todo fiel católico para que lo tenga en su casa.

Me gustaría añadir que todos los textos tanto como los del Ordinario como las lecturas bíblicas son tomados del Misal Romano y del Leccionario I, II y III de la edición mexicana publicada por Obra Nacional de la Buena Prensa. De manera que este misal es perfecto para usarlo particularmente en México, EEUU, y en todos los demás países que usen los textos del español mexicano.

Acabo de recibir El Misal Romano Diario y estoy maravillado de la alta calidad del Misal. Viene envuelto en plástico lo cual lo protege aún más, completamente nuevo,tamaño accesible, la piel es suave al tacto y de primera. Algo muy importante que no se menciona o ve en las fotos, es que las hojas del Misal son en color oro y hace una combinación perfecta con la piel guinda y sus títulos en dorado. Tener las misas diarias de por vida en este libro es sin duda una motivación más para ir a celebrar la Santa Misa y recibir la Eucaristía todos los días. Si están pensando comprarlo para ustedes o hacer un regalo, no lo piensen mucho, además que es muy difícil de conseguir. Saludos y gracias a los que venden estos tesoros y a los Autores.

When I was reading this book, I had just had a conflict with someone that had activated something in me that I knew I required to clear from my childhood. Just by reading the invocation and protocol using the Violet flame, I could feel the past discordant pattern being transmuted and healed, and the conflict completely disappeared. RUEY S. TSAY, PhD, is H.G.B. Alexander Professor of Econometrics and Statistics at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Good reference book for those who have had at least a class in the topic

This text is a good reference for a broad range of topics in the analysis of multivariate time series. It covers not only proven mainstream methods (VARMA, cointegration, PCA) but also delves into some cutting-edge techniques such as those used in volatility modelling. The coverage across topics it not uniform, and the author freely admits the depth of coverage has been influenced by his own preferences and understanding of the various topics. Therefore it should come as no surprise that the text is heavily focused on VARMA modelling.

The order by which topics are presented is reasonable. I like that the author starts right off with the more general vector/matrix approach and does not waste time introducing the "special case" posed by univariate time series, since this book is going to be very difficult for a student who has not already been exposed to the univariate case. Indeed, a level of familiarity with advanced mathematical topics (such as infinite-order matrix polynomials) is presumed. I also liked that proofs occur mostly at the end of chapters, and that the author maintains a web page with a listing of errata.

While this is an excellent reference for a variety of techniques, like many of these kinds of books, it does not offer much on the subject of model selection -- that is, the process of choosing between competing techniques, nor much advice on how to determine whether a particular technique might be appropriate or inappropriate in a given setting.

Some reviewers have complained about being turned off by the heavy use of mathematical notation, some of which may seem foreign to some readers. However, I think this is unavoidable when covering advanced topics such as these. To his credit, the author mostly uses a consistent set of notation throughout the book, and is mostly willing to dispense with mathematical purity whenever it would hinder readability. For example, I was thankful that he uses the same symbol for a random variable and its realization, as using separate symbols would have been unnecessarily complicated in this setting.

Another essential reference from Prof. Ruey Tsay

Professor Ruey Tsay is the author of multiple editions of book on time series analysis, most recently An Introduction to Analysis of Financial Data with R. Most people who work with financial data or who have taken a graduate course in time series analysis have a copy of one of Prof. Tsay's books. The previous books focus largely on univariate time series. Prof. Tsay's new book, Multivariate Time Series Analysis focuses on multiple time series that have some kind of cross sectional relationship. Time series with multivariate or co-integrated distributes occur in finance, which accounts for the sub-title.

One of the things that I appreciated about the book is that the proofs are kept to appendix sections at the end of the chapters. I found the level of math approachable. Most of the mathematics is discrete math (summations), without any advanced calculus. Because the book deals with multivariate time series, linear algebra is used through out the book, but again, the level is reasonable. An advanced undergraduate or anyone who has taken applied math graduate courses should have not problem with the math.

Except for some of the notation... Few people read books like this from front to back. Generally there's something that you would like to understand and you read the associated chapters. Jumping into a chapter, I found some of the notation difficult to understand. For example, Prof. Tsay uses B to indicate the back-shift operator (e.g., B(x[t]) = x[t-1]) (see page 19). I have not seen this notation so jumping into a chapter I kept wondering what this B was that I kept seeing in many equations. Some math texts have a page or two that summarizes the local notation. That would have been nice here.

The book covers a variety of topics and in many cases I found the explanation briefer than I would have wished. My favorite time series book is the now dated Modeling Financial Time Series with S-PLUS, Springer (2006) (Prof. Zivot was one of my professors in graduate school). A search will turn this book up in PDF form, so you don't have to buy it. Prof. Zivot's approach works better for me. He introduces a topic and then develops examples, with more discussion. Multivariate Time Series Analysis does provide R examples, but it was difficult for me to understand the jump from theory to example in many cases without pouring over the text several times. One example of this is the coverage of Principle Component Analysis (PCA) for factor models. PCA is introduced and applied to factor models in a few chapters. For me PCA analysis is something that would have been better covered with its own chapter.

Once I got used to Prof. Tsay's notation I found the book easier to understand. Multivariate Time Series Analysis is an important reference and it will join my earlier copy of Prof. Tsay's Analysis of Financial Time Series on my reference shelf.

Detailed Analysis of Multivariate Time Series (MTS)

Multivariate Time Series Analysis by Ruey Tsay provides a thorough mathematical analysis of time series and how the open source statistical package R can be used for analysis. The author provides an Add-On package, MTS (Multivariate Time Series) which be installed in R and used for analysis. One great feature of the book is the authors's web page which provides all the R code used in the book and allows the reader a fair amount of practice.

Overall, the book is mathematically dense and challenging to follow. I certainly had a tough time following the numerous equations and terminology. In a future edition, the author may want to include more conceptual descriptions and less equations. The book would also more useful if the author would augment the relatively scarce R program code included in the text, even though he does an excellent job in the website associated with the book.

I would not recommended this book for a casual user who just wants to get an overview of the topic and be able to use the R code to solve specific problems of interest. For maximum benefit, the reader will need significant investment in time to allow carrying out the exercises in R.

Overall, this book is best suited for a user with some familiarity in the mathematical foundations of multivariate time series analysis and wants to better understand advanced topics, and how to use R for their analysis.
