About the Author
Stuart Gray has been teaching in international schools for ten years. He has extensive experience of teaching the IB Information Technology in a Global Society course with a variety of students, including second language learners. In Tanzania he was responsible for planning and implementing the ITGS course for the school's first intake of IB students. He has been an IB examiner and currently works at Academia Británica Cuscatleca in El Salvador.

ITGS Baccalaureate

I bought this book after reading the sample chapter online. Unlike other textbooks I have used, this one is specificly designed for the ITGS syllabus. Students can be sure that if they are learning something from this book, it will be relevant to the course. The IT systems in organisation contains a lot of theory, and students struggle a lot with it, but the sample chapter explained it clearly.
The first chapters are well set up for students with little knowledge of hardware and software. The list off terms at the end of each chapter make it easy to keep track of what you need to know after each topic.
The organisation of chapters makes it easy to teach, starting on any topic - you don't need to follow the book chapter by chapter, though you can if you want. I like the way the author points out common mistakes that students often make in exams.
Each chapter has exercises and revision tasks to help students apply knowledge. I much prefer these to the basic word-matching and gap filling that you find in a lot of textbooks. The books website is useful in that it has extra activities and starter tasks that can be downloaded for free.
One criticism is that the book is only available in black and white, but everything is still clear and this does make it good value and more affordable than a colour book.

As a recently-started IB student, I believe this textbook is the most accurate, up-to-date resource out there for ITGS students or enthusiasts. I thoroughly recommend it. So far, I have aced all of my practice papers thanks to this material!

Very informative

This is pretty much a condense, comprehensive textbook for the IB ITGS student. Although there is a lot of information, this compactness sometimes detracts from clarity since the important words in bold are not always clearly defined. I find this aspect to be the most annoying, but this book otherwise encompasses everything you need to know. The pictures look a little bit dated, and some of the diagrams are awkward, but this is an overall good book for tying in all the concepts you've learned. If you have some basic understanding before reading this book, then it will be the most helpful to you. Otherwise, you may get a little lost, despite the glossary in the back. I hope this review helps!

About the Author
As an educator, Dr. Michael Windelspecht has taught introductory biology, genetics, and human genetics in the online, traditional, and hybrid environments at community colleges, comprehensive universities, and military institutions. For over a decade he served as the Introductory Biology Coordinator at Appalachian State University where he directed a program that enrolled over 4,500 students annually. He currently serves as an adjunct professor of biology at ASU where he teaches nonmajors biology and human genetics in the online and hybrid formats. He was educated at Michigan State University and the University of South Florida. Dr. Windelspecht is also active in promoting the scientific literacy of secondary school educators. He has led multiple workshops on integrating water quality research into the science curriculum, and has spent several summers teaching Pakistani middle school teachers. As an author, Dr. Windelspecht has published five reference textbooks, and multiple print and online lab manuals. He served as the series editor for a ten-volume work on the human body. For years Dr. Windelspecht has been active in the development of multimedia resources for the online and hybrid science classrooms. Along with his wife, Sandra, he owns a multimedia production company, Ricochet Creative Productions, which actively develops and assesses new technologies for the science classroom.

Sylvia S. Mader has authored several nationally recognized biology texts published by McGraw Hill. Educated at Bryn Mawr College, Harvard University, Tufts University, and Nova Southeastern University, she holds degrees in both Biology and Education. Over the years she has taught at University of Massachusetts, Lowell; Massachusetts Bay Community College; Suffolk University; and Nathan Mayhew Seminars. Her ability to reach out to science-shy students led to the writing of her first text, Inquiry into Life, that is now in its thirteenth edition. Highly acclaimed for her crisp and entertaining writing style, her books have become models for others who write in the field of biology. Although her writing schedule is always quite demanding, Dr. Mader enjoys taking time to visit and explore the various ecosystems of the biosphere. Her several trips to the Florida Everglades and Caribbean coral reefs resulted in talks she has given to various groups around the country. She has visited the tundra in Alaska, the taiga in the Canadian Rockies, the Sonoran Desert in Arizona, and tropical rain forests in South America and Australia. A photo safari to the Serengeti in Kenya resulted in a number of photographs for her texts. She was thrilled to think of walking in Darwin’s steps when she journeyed to the Galápagos Islands with a group of biology educators. Dr. Mader was also a member of a group of biology educators who traveled to China to meet with their Chinese counterparts and exchange ideas about the teaching of modern-day biology.

I brought this book new for my Biology 108 class. The book is good but I thought it came with the code to get on line with Connect, but it didnt. I ended up paying an extra $120 for the code that goes to this book. So please be aware that it is only the book that your getting and not the connect code.

Pass on This One

Categories are like the red-headed step child of Romances, but I read and enjoy quite a few.

Not this one.

Basically, the leads are whiny, sad sacks without reasons sufficient enough for us to forgive them for it. His reason is better than hers, but by the time we get the additional details of his marriage (the very end of the book!), we don't care any more. The female character moves from single career woman to mother of newborn twins with ZERO impact on her life. The nanny evidently works 24/7, and the loving couple can go from work to dinner to a remote cabin in the woods to make love half the night and never call her to let her know! The hero is not the usual dominant stereotype for a Category, but his behaviour in certain scenes comes out predatory. And the last page of the book is a teaser to the next story in the Donovan family, but the author chooses one of the siblings that was barely included - unlike brother Liam, for instance, who made up a lot of this book.

I suggest you pick another read.

This book was just bad for all the reason listed by the other reviewer and more. I can count on one hand the number of books I did not want to finish....this is one of them. Work together for a couple months and then as soon as she gets these babies he is all over her. Just the worst book.

Vanessa Valdez becomes an instant mother when her friend dies shortly after giving birth to twins. As secretary to Conall Donaldson of the Double D Ranch, she needs help and, although she doesn't expect it of him, he offers to help her come get the babies and even sets up a nursery for her.

Vanessa's known Conall all her life, but never imagined that the man she's secretly had a crush on since their school days would ever be interested in her. He is, which freaks her out. After all, she's his secretary and she doesn't want to lose her job because of his less-than-strictly-professional interest in her.

How are they going to work together at the office when Conall wants to act on his desire for children by being a daddy to her twins by wooing Vanessa?
